Christmas starters

We're going to DD's for Christmas,as it's her first hosting we've been working together on the menu but are having problems on starters. We usually do prawns and soup but DD only wants to do one

Our problems are

Prawns only liked by 3 of us
Ditto mushrooms, beetroot,blue cheese
I can't eat cheese except sheep or goat in small amounts
Soup is too boring

Any ideas? I can't digest saturated fat so a lot of meaty things are off the menu too

I’m not sure why you can’t do the 2? Prawns just need mixing with the sauce and putting on a bed of lettuce etc . Soup just needs heating as can be either bought in or cooked and frozen ahead of time. Both can be served with some bread.

A fancy little salad would be fine.

DD has announced that she's going to make 1 starter as she found my MiLs recipe for red pepper soup.

You could do some cheesy toasts with it.or some cheese twist.
There's also those whole loaves made into cheese bread that would look amazing with her soup .
