I've got lots in but nothing goes together.

Fresh:
2 red cabbages
A celeriac
Parsnips
Sweet potato
A butternut squash
Some tomatos
Lettuce
A fennel
A couple of elderly peppers
Spuds, onions, garlic

Fridge:
A bit of cheese
Some soft cheese I could do with using up
Other normal fridge stuff - butter, milk etc

Also got lots of lentils and pulses. I quite fancy something butterbeanish, maybe.

Got some wossname, whatdyacallit, for making dumplings. Maybe casserol? Which veggies 'go' though?

Got pasta, rice, other poncy grainy things.

Got plenty of 'ingredients' - herbs, spices, stock, etc

peel butternut squash and cut into small dice. cut the peppers into thin strips. fry slowly in olive oil until the peppers are soft and the squash is nicely golden, adding a couple of bashed about garlic cloves and some ground coriander. when all is done, break in eggs and scramble until lightly cooked. make a salad to go with it.

Really? squash and pepper omeletty thing? Would never have put that combination together. Willing to give it a go though!

Celariac and parsnip gratin using milk/butter/cheese, served with a nice salad made with your lettuce and tomato

Sweet potato and [chick pea?] curry - chuck in onions, butternut squash, sweet potato, peppers and tomatoes

In the end I did a tomato and leek pasta sauce because I was feeling lazy and uninspired. Am quite glad I did though, as both your suggestions are fab G&T. That's Friday and Saturday sorted. Thank you .

God I still have two stupid red cabbages. Maybe I should get a third and juggle them.

Make braied red cabbage and freeze it in portions to use in the future.

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2008 17:21

braised

BroccoliSpears · 02/02/2008 17:24

Yup COV, that would be the sensible thing to do.
