What’s happened to dried pears?

I used to buy dried pears semi-regularly from various supermarkets- they weren’t a staple but I could always find them. Now they seem to have completely disappeared from all supermarkets and Holland and Barrett. They are available online (£13/kg 😮) but why are they no longer on the shelves? They’re so tasty- like fruity fudge. Does anyone have insider knowledge?

I was looking for them this weekend for a cake recipe. Also no luck :(

I bought some this week in Waitrose, but they were with the snacking dried fruit near the sandwiches rather than with the rest of the dried fruit in the baking aisle. Forest Feast Williams pears they are (and very delicious, and on special offer, but a small pack, sure they would work out at much more than £13/kg)
