Alternative to mushy peas?

Making home made fish and chips tonight in an attempt to be relatively healthy despite craving a chippy tea - my DH HATES peas - can anyone recommend / has anyone ever made an alternative using different veg? So far I have considered carrot (maybe too sweet?) and broccoli (maybe TOO mushy if you see what I mean). X

I love it with steamed broccoli, personally.

I wouldn't try make a mushy anything, just do side veg, and make a quick tartare sauce with diced cornichon/dill pickles and capers in mayonnaise.

Don't bother with the veg.

We like tender stemmed broccoli with baked breaded fish, we tend not to eat many potatoes but if we did I'd do skin on thin wedges.

It's probably not much like a 'chippy tea' but it goes together fine.

Thanks so much! Although once baked beans were suggested there was no competition....delicious! Grin
