Cottage pie advice

Unsure what to do for best here.

Want to make a cottage pie to reheat in a couple of days.
Is it best to:
make the whole thing, freeze then cook from frozen or
defrost it first then reheat or
make meat part, freeze that, defrost and make mashed potato part fresh then cook?

I need to transport this dish for reheating elsewhere so would prefer most prep to be at home but also want it to taste lovely.

I would make the meat separately and freeze, and then make the mash separately (without butter/ milk) and freeze.

Then night before, defrost the meat and mash in the fridge.

On the day, reheat meat and mash. Add butter and milk to mash. Put the two together and bake in the oven to crisp up

If by a couple of days you mean two then there is no need to freeze.

Make the whole thing at your house. Cool, cover, put in your fridge. In 2 days time take it to someone else's house and shove in oven.

2 days in fridge is fine.
