Why is mindful chef dairy free?

It isn’t meat free, gluten free or egg or nut free as standard unless you choose those recipes, but everything is dairy free.

And IMHO it really ruins some of the recipes using the almond yoghurt or oat milk that they supply and I end up using my own supplies of dairy versions.

Im a bit confused as to why they don’t make this optional and why they chose specifically to be dairy free.

And before anyone says it yes I have asked them and they just said they are a dairy free company. No other explanation.

We have enjoyed the meals otherwise but are going to try Gousto as constantly replacing the horrible almond yoghurt etc is a bit annoying.

I didn't know it was! I'm DF but don't enjoy milk alternatives and the family definitely don't so I think we'll stick with our odd box of Gousto Wink

Says why on their website

Although it’s confusing that you say they aren’t gluten free but they say they are. I haven’t used them so wouldn’t no either way if they are or not.

They are gluten free as well.

Doesn't sound like healthy eating for the majority of people. And I have friends who are gluten-free but would never, ever recommend it for others.

Ah I’d missed the gluten free but as we never choose pasta recipes.

the dairy free isn’t explained though and it isn’t just changing an ingredient that’s almost standalone like the pasta, it affects the taste of the whole dish when something like yoghurt is used a thickener. The dairy free substitutes aren’t nice at all and the vast majority of dishes seem to have one.

and it also makes it VERY hard to select nut free meals.

Id prefer If you could tick for a dairy free alternative or keep with the cow version.

anyway, onwards to Gusto for us.
