'Sunday' meals.

What's a comforting Sunday meal? That's not a roast.
I've started working Sundays 12-4 so it's hard to prep a roast.

This week I made a chicken pie before work and put it in the oven when I got home. I'm gonna do lasagne on Sunday. But what else can I do that's quick and comforting? I also thought sausage and mash.

Before anyone asks if DP would cook- he has offered but I'd rather not eat it- he's not exactly Gordon Ramsay lol! I also enjoy the peace of cooking.

A big stew with mash (make it on Saturday and just reheat on Sunday)
Sausage casserole in Yorkies
Ham with cauliflower cheese

Definitely pies with different fillings served with mash gravy and veg. So comforting and quite quick to do especially if buying shop bought pies.

Shepherds pie

Toad in the hole with mash gravy and veg

Corned beef, topped with beans and mashed potato, cheese on top, baked in the oven and then served with gravy

Cheese and potato pie

Stew with dumplings

Sausage casserole with jacket spuds

Sausage and mash for sure - or toad in the hole

Scottish stovies

Soup with nice bread and cheese, followed by crumble and custard or rice pudding

Quite a few things you could do ahead, many of which are actually better for being made in advance. Chilli or curry, for example, and rice is quick to cook while you're reheating. You can ring the changes quite a bit with different kinds of stew and casserole - e.g. beef and dumplings one week, chicken casserole and new potatoes the next week, lamb hotpot week 3. Doesn't take too long to do the accompanying veg so you could do that when you get in.

Toad in the hole - you can make the batter before work and let it stand in the fridge, or just use a packet mix!
