It's unopened but best before Oct 21.
I'm tempted to use.

If unopened. yes but eat quick.

If it smells and looks fine I'd use it, we have opened peanut butter we're still using that's like 6 months out of date, it's separated so harder to spread but not killed us

Worriedaboutethics · 17/10/2022 15:19

@Blix

smells ok and no mould it’s ok

Blix · 17/10/2022 15:21

It will be cooked anyway. In a kind of satay sauce.
There was also an opened jar which was a year older.
DS2 is visiting and requested his favourite veg satay. Clearly I haven't made it since he left home😂

Smell it. If the oil has gone off it will have a rancid smell. Otherwise it will be fine and has a very long shelf life.

ItsRainingPens · 17/10/2022 15:27

If it isn't rancid, it's fine. It may have separated. If so, just give it a good stir.
"Best before" really doesn't mean "toxic after"

weathervane1 · 17/10/2022 15:28

I'm sure t will be perfectly fine

loubielou31 · 17/10/2022 15:29

I would agree with the others about the smell, if it has a weird smell than the oil will have gone rancid, and the flavour will spoil whatever you're cooking, I've done it with sunflower seeds. But if it smells okay and then tastes okay then it's okay, on toast as well as in cooking.

It's going in. I'm generally relaxed about dates and would use tinned or dried foods for years after. Just wasn't sure about this as it's not something I use often. Obviously!
