Children’s cook book?

Violettaa · 15/10/2022 21:28

I’d love to get DD3 a children’s cook book for Christmas. She loves doing the very simple bits of cooking with me, and is really into an 80s children’s book that my DM still has.

I know she won’t use it properly for a few years, but I think she’s like it anyway.

Any recommendations? Ideally one that’s savoury food as well as baking.

I bought this for my son a few years ago. The recipes are reliable and he and his brother always come back to several recipes from it.

Tickle Fingers is by far the best I've found for preschoolers. The portions are fairly small, but it makes life SO easy for the adult. What to prepare, how to get the child involved with new skills, allergy substitutes, graded recipes, all sorts of categories of recipes rather than all baking.

I do use other recipe books to cook with the children, but TF basically taught me to get my children involved in cooking so much more effectively than I did before.

tickle fingers is a good one that I've used lots with children. I think they do one for toddlers too (1-4) but I would say that the 4-7 book would be fine for a three year old.

The brilliant anges de sucre owner has written a series that are stories with a recipe woven in. Big thumbs up from my kids!

Highly recommend this one too, has been great for my sons - savoury & sweet, lots of pictures and simple instructions.

The Paddington cookbook is nice. We got it from the library then bought our own copy.
