Rather than grabbing a takeaway. What are your special Saturday recipes. Looking for something 'nice' to eat that's a bit more special than the usual evening meals.

Steak and Tiger prawns in garlic butter. Extra special skin on chips that are actually deep fried. Roast asparagus and vine cherry tomatoes.. bearnaise sauce.

Pulled pork tacos - we are having something similar to this tonight and feels like a treat tea

Seafood pasta (prawn or crab)
Steak or venison
Nachos
Lamb rack with a herb crust
Seared tuna with a sesame crust
French onion soup
Risotto
Pierrade/hot stone

Usually something very fresh, something fun, or something that takes a while to prepare

I like Saturday teas to be a bit comforting and familiar.

Pizza with a homemade base, toppings could be anything I've got leftover but a favourite is mushroom and spinach with LOADS of cheese. Mmmmmmm

Saturday special - in our house this is homemade potato latke with good quality lorne sausage, bacon, black pudding and grilled tomatoes and baked beans. Reminds me of my childhood!

Homemade chips, fried eggs, baked beans and tomatoes.

Macaroni cheese, using up all the odds and ends of any cheese we have hanging around.

Tonight we're having a takeaway curry from our local Nepalese place, as a birthday treat for DH.

Last night we had Thai fish cakes with green beans and tender-stem broccoli that we stir fried in garlic and lemon juice and a little pickled vegetable salad and a sweet chilli dipping sauce. It was really good and felt a bit different to our regular meals

For a family meal, I'd go fish tacos or chicken fajitas (with guacamole, salsa, sour cream etc), maybe lasagne with focaccia (too much of a faf during the week), some kind of curry that takes a bit of preparation etc. If it's special for adults....maybe would get the cook books out. What do you do Wizard?

Fajitas, enchiladas etc are a favourite. Also curries - prawn stuffed seabass with lemon rice is usually the request

Chicken and bacon pasta bake (creamy tomato homemade sauce).

Wierd, that was supposed to be posted on the What are you having for tea thread.
It's not a special dinner!

I like roasting a chicken but with different flavourings than usual - an Indian yoghurt / spices marinade and have it with raita / salad / flat breads / chips - whatever you like. Or you could marinate the chicken in some kind of Thai curry paste. Can sit in the fridge all day in the marinade and its not much work but feels a bit different.
