Hi all
we are on a budget this Christmas along with everyone else! So i am wondering about making some little homemade chocolates as gifts for people rather than spending money on cadbury roses etc. i’ve seen some fairly cheap cellophane bags and moulds on ebay, and i’m an ok baker, but does anyone have any nice recipes/experience they would like to share? I know professional bakers will use a specific chocolate probably belgian but I don’t know where to get that from, should i just buy aldi chocolate which is meant to be really nice and melt it down? Thank you x

These are good - the recipe says 'fine chocolate' but I've only ever made them with cheap supermarket chocolate - have tried dark, milk, white and a mixture, and they have all been lovely. You could add other flavours if you wish. I like to dunk them in melted chocolate (then chill them on some baking parchment) for a crisp coating: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2011/dec/18/nigel-slater-classic-chocolate-truffles
