Best Indian veggie option

I'm getting an Indian takeaway tonight and need some inspiration.

I'm a vegetarian and usually opt for vegetable biryani with masala sauce, but I'm feeling adventurous tonight and want something different!

Does anyone have any suggestions Smile

Paneer dishes are just the BEST!!!

oonrug · 26/09/2022 18:21

@willowtree00 oooo now that could be an option! I'm embarrassed to say I've been veggie for 8 years and never tried paneer from the Indian Blush

Tarka daal with paratha. Quite calorific but so worth it

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/09/2022 18:25

Anything with Paneer! I'm not veggie but will often order tikka paneer starter as a main with dhal and naan bread yum 😋

LondonWolf · 26/09/2022 18:27

Saag Paneer with mushroom rice and garlic naan.

DreamingofBrie · 26/09/2022 18:28

I'd go for a vegetarian thali and have lots of variety!

DrivingTheoryTest · 26/09/2022 18:28

Chole bhature
Paneer tikka
Brinjal bhaji

Maybe not all of them together but they're my faves

talknomore · 26/09/2022 18:29

Paratha over any other bread for me.
I had (vegan) Mysore dosa with some potato filling yesterday and it was delicious.

PToosher · 26/09/2022 18:29

I'm not veggie but on occasion have the veggie dhansak from our local curry house. It's lovely. Have it with rice or naan. I recommended to a vegetarian friend and it's her go to option now.

Magenta82 · 26/09/2022 18:29

Saag Panner, brinjal bhaji, and a paratha, I had this last night its my favourite.

Unless they do dosa (rice pancakes) in that case I'd either go for a plain one or a masala one (spicy potato). They usually come with sambal and chutney.

Side dishes are the best plus they are smaller and cheaper so you can have a few.

I'm not actually veggie, but prefer vegetarian Indian food to meat.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 26/09/2022 18:30

Dahl makhani if they have it.

Saag paneer (or Palak paneer)

Or not very original but I'm very partial to an aloo gobi.

Malai kofta is also lovely if you can get it.

mothertrucking · 26/09/2022 18:31

I absolutely love Paneer

declutteringmymind · 26/09/2022 18:32

You're going to have a lot to get through! Have a look at the Chana masala (chick peas) or the rajma (kidney beans)

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 26/09/2022 18:32

Also baingan bharta is delicious if you can get it.

Channa masala also good.

Definitely go for a mix of sides rather than one main!

Definitely paneer dishes

SeaThingChild · 26/09/2022 18:35

Tarka Dal is my favourite dish, also sag aloo, and if they do it I've had some lovely karahi aloo gobi too.

Ginisatonic · 26/09/2022 18:52

You might have ordered now but I try other things and always come back to a vegetable dhansak. Tarka dhal is a great side dish. I’m never bothered about rice but I do like a vegetable paratha.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 26/09/2022 19:01

Paneer dhansak, or paneer tikka masala. Or paneer saag and a dal masala.

This person has great taste! Can only improve by switching saag paneer to saag aloo. Brinjal, parththa, dosa... all amazing foods.

Magenta82 · 26/09/2022 20:15

Saag aloo is great, but I do love paneer.
