How on earth do you rinse quinoa?

Not something I usually eat but got a quinoa dish in my food box this week.

Instructions say to rinse before cooking but it's going to go through the holes in my sieve/colander?

In a sieve it will be fine. To be honest though, I've never rinsed quinoa!

In a finer mesh sieve.

You can also use a normal sieve/colander and line it paper kitchen towels.

Put it in a bowl / saucepan of water and swish it around a bit then drain. (Carefully) Repeat if necessary. It's how I rinse rice if I can be bothered to do it at all.

I had to buy a very fine colander/sieve specifically for this i'm afraid. I have heard people do it through muslin, but not for me. Its a pain, but i eat a lot of it so i've got use out of the sieve.

As above, a mesh sieve should work. If not could you add water to a pot, wash the quinoa tip away the water and repeat a couple of times, like you would with rice.

Gauze?

I'll try paper towels thank you.

I should have said that I have previously tried the add water and swish like rice but bizarrely quinoa seems to float and I ended up with half in the sink.

I must read the recipes more closely in future!

I'll also buy a finer mesh sieve for future. Mine must have particularly big holes!
