Anyone has the Tefal Electric Pressure Cooker?

It is supposed to cut down cooking time but mine takes ages to pressurize.
In fact, just put rice, pressed the rive button and it's been nearly 8 minutes and hasn't started yet.
If this is normal... what's the point?
Or what am I doing wrong?

@Kione Wow, I've never heard of an electric pressure cooker before! It sounds like a great idea, although not if it takes so long to heat up. Could the heating element be faulty? I have one which sits on my gas hob, and it works fine... Mine's a Lagostina mini pressure cooker by the way.

I've had it fir a year now, it does take that long to "pressurize" but then cooks in an hour what could take 3, so I guess it does what it is supposed to. It took a while to learn all the settings and correct steps.

@Kione That's great, so you save time overall.

Yep
Agree its slow. DH chose it. Mainly as a rice cooker, but we also use the slow cook function.
He is very happy with the rice function tho, and he is the rice expert.

@CatsOnTheChair It sounds like a very versatile appliance!

If it's got a special rice function, it'll have resting time programmed in - it allows for where people don't wash their rice first.

An electric pressure cooker is more commonly known as an Instant Pot @Tzimi.
I love my (5) stovetop pressure cookers and was sucked into buying an electric one. I gave it away because of the infuriating length of time it took to get to pressure.
Sure things only took “5 minutes in the instant pot”- they’d been boiling for 20 minutes before that!

@CatsOnTheChair Wow, I didn't know such things existed! As you say, it looks complicated, but these things are often quite intuitive, & it would probably only take about 5 minutes of fiddling about to figure out how it works.

I've got a lovely old Lagostina (Italian) 3L pressure cooker which I inherited from my aunt in Greece. It must be at least 20 years old, but it still works perfectly! The blue handles are removable, so you can place the pot part in the oven after removing them.

I made a chilli con carne only last night, with chicken, butter beans & cannellinin beans! Now it's a has-been chilli! 😁
