Topping for salad

I take a prepared salad to work ever day (just lettuce and something like chicken on it). I like to add something but I don't like onions (so salsa's out) or garlic (so no humous, tzatziki). Any ideas? Like guacamole but too fattening!

Mixed seeds? Pine nuts and parmesan shavings? Chopped walnuts?

But avocado is really really good for you.

Thanks. Want something to make it less dry...like a sauce

But if I ate it every day I think I'd feel my trousers getting tighter Grin

1/2 avocado is so good. Maybe a hard boiled egg and some cheese too.olives, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts (from a can or jar), tuna

Tahini lemon juice and water mixed up is nice

I drizzle oil. Often olive, sometimes sesame. Yes they are “fats” but helps me feel fuller for longer and I eat less. Alternatively make your own salsa and hummus.
Salsa: tomatoes, lime juice, salt and pepper (I like to add avocado, again because fat keeps me full)
Hummus: chickpeas, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, tahini.

You could make a dressing using sundried tomatoes?

CatNamedEaster · 03/09/2022 06:35

Natural yoghurt could have lots of things added to make a variety of alternative dessings:
Curry powder (Love this on a sweet potato salad)
Chives chopped up tiny
Mint chopped up tiny
Grated cucumber and capers (is it capers) to give you a garlic free tzatziki.

I love a basic olive oil, balsamic and wholegrain mustard dressing. Give it a shake a pour it on.

Yep to minty yoghurt with a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon 🤤

Verbena87 · 03/09/2022 06:38

Or whisk up lime, soy sauce, grated ginger and peanut butter.

Red wine vinegar and salt and pepper and oil if that's not too fattening

HuntingoftheSnark · 03/09/2022 07:02

I take dressing in a small pot to add at lunchtime - it's a mix of light mayonnaise and a chilli, coconut and lime dressing.

Limer · 03/09/2022 07:07

Sweet chilli sauce straight out of the bottle is lovely on salad.

Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, black pepper and dried mixed herbs.

Ganymedemoon · 03/09/2022 07:10

Olive oil and a dash of balsamic mixed together.

jelly79 · 03/09/2022 08:23

Beetroot
Artichokes
Olives
Sundried tomatoes

I like to take a pot with a simple vinaigrette or even just olive oil if in a rush then a sprinkling of dukkah. I'm a bit addicted to dukkah i seem to put it on everything at the moment!

themimi · 03/09/2022 12:42

Thanks everyone!

Tahini, soy sauce and honey makes a wonderful dressing. Needs a little water to loosen it up
