DS doesn't like sandwiches much and they often come back uneaten.

He will eat wraps and pasta but I don't want to overdo either of them as he also likes pasta for tea!

What else can I do that is reasonably priced for lunch?

Savoury muffins are quite good; they have egg and cheese so have some protein and you can easily add a bit of finely chopped veg (whatever needs eating from the fridge).

DD loved her food flask. After a roast dinner, I'd put in meat, roast potatoes, veg and gravy the next day. Also liked mashed potatoes with beans and cheese. And bolognese, curry, chilli

My two like hot lunches in a thermos - risotto, chilli and rice, curry and rice, soup, etc.

We do homemade pesto but substitute nuts for sunflower seeds as one ds is allergic.

Also meatballs and mash or pasta.

One ds makes himself a ramen noodle soup.

Often they'll take rolls or wraps.

Couscous salads (they like the giant couscous).

Cold sausages, chicken drumsticks- and then have crackers and cheese (like homemade lunchables!).

Homemade sausage rolls.

Section box with fruit, ham and cheese wrap, cocktail sausages cheap and easy, peanut butter cold pancakes, yoghurt, French toast, toasted waffles, granola, quiche, nuts, kale chips, chicken fillet sliced,

A thermos also works really well for keeping salads contained and chilled.

Potato salad (sauce is 50/50 mayo and natural yoghurt, spring onions if you have them) or cold boiled rice, with ham or boiled egg.

I think the cheese scones and the pitta strips are great ideas. Mine like cinnamon raisin bagels. You don't have to have all the carbs in one thing. I tend to give mine crisps if the main carb is a bit small. They love it when I make tortilla chips by baking wraps for a few mins because they are going stale and then smashing up.

My DS doesn't like sandwiches either, he also doesn't have diary or meat. I alternate between wraps (he loves a cucumber wrap!), pasta and Crackers with a little pot of diary free creamy spread with a wooden spoon, this works well as he like the process of making his crackers! I then bulk up his lunch with extras like raisins, carrots, boiled egg, grapes, homemade flapjacks etc. A pot of cous cous could work too, my DS loves cous cous but won't take a pot to school as it's too messy to eat!

Fried rice.

you can mix it with anything.

If he likes wraps send wraps, nothing wrong with it. I have a sandwich, wrap or bagel most days, it's normal! Dts like ramen noodles in a thermos.

Two minute noodles
Fried rice
Baked beans
Vege curry
Mince and beans
Mashed potatoes and gravy
All the in a flask when cooler
Warner months
Pinwheels
Homemade pita pizza
Sushi
Tortilla
Quesadilla
Bento box
Mini quiches
Spinach and cheese triangles

Hope that helps.

You could make your. own pasties with mince and whatever chopped up veg- time consuming but get the fussy kids to help the night before.
Mine used to like frankfurter type sausages with their pasta, you can veggie versions.
My non-sandwich -eating DS would eat bagels, and liked the thin ones better than standard ones. Also pizza slices, and left over spag bol. If they like eggs, you can make mini omlettes in a muffin tray, add mushroom, ham, cheese or anything else and cook in the oven. You could do cheese cubes ( or cheese strings but those are very processed and wrapped in plastic) or hummus and chopped veg - lots of kids at my school will eat cucumber or carrot sticks, olive, mini tomatoes, raw mangetout, etc.
