Cooking apples!

I've just brought in our cooking apples from the tree this year. They're cleaned, peeled, cored, sliced and in the freezer. I'm after some nice old fashioned recipes - modern things can be a little too sticky sweet for me. I'm going to fry some with butter sugar and cinnamon for a little luxury for my porridge. I'll make applesauce, pies and crumbles. But I'm after a really nice cake recipe. Anyone have an old recipe?

Thank you @Fivemoreminutes1 ! I've asked my mum to send me her old dorest apple cake recipe, but I hadn't considered bread and butter pudding with apples - sounds amazing so I will definitely give that a try!!!

Like a traybake apple French toast, I use less syrup in the apples but it is nice (and easy).

Ooh, extra points for that one being dieter friendly @FormerlySpeckledyHen , it looks delicious, and I like the idea of adding grated apple to scones too, thank you.

OMG @jay55 , that is one for the holiday, non-deting, brunch as suggested minus the alohol for us. These are all wonderful things for me to try out over the next few weeks, thank you!
