Does anybody have a good, tried and tested recipe for a red velvet cake, or another cake or even cheesecake that's mostly red?

Thanks in advance!

I have had good results with the Hummingbird Bakery recipe in the past.

Thanks! I'll look at that one. The comments on this recipe are very positive. sallysbakingaddiction.com/red-velvet-cheesecake-swirl-brownies/

not used that recipe, but I have had great acceded with other Sally's Baking Addiction recipes before so it probably is good.

Reassuring! It's for an event where people will be dropping in over a period of several hours, so I'm thinking that having brownies or cupcakes might be better than having a big cake which at some point we have to cut.

I tried making red velvet cake years ago and put in liquid, red colouring. Bog standard stuff from tesco/asda. It came out a a dull, brown and was very disappointing! 😧

I don't have a recipe, but have been advised that gel colours are the way to go for a vibrant red.

Thank you, I'd been thinking I would need to get something other than ordinary food colouring.
