What to do with masses of Blackberries (apart from jam)

Just that really. Loads of brambles out the back, there are tons of free blackberries. Any inspirations/recipes would be gratefully received!

If you’re lazy like me you can freeze them in a bag, use a ziploc one and get as much air out as possible, which will stop them sticking together when they freeze. A tap on the counter and they separate easily. No need to faff about with trays

I made a blackberry roll yesterday-

2oz butter rubbed into 8oz self raising flour, make into a not-sticky dough with milk, roll out, sprinkle over plenty of blackberries, some brown sugar and cinnamon, roll up.
Bake 180c for 45 minutes ish. Very nice.

There's a Danish pudding made from blackberries called roedgroed (not sure if correct spelling) that I seem to remember is nice.

@Selford Thanks for the cocktail recipe. My creme de mure won the cup for the best beverage in the village show this weekend so it is probably worth using brandy.

I used a whole load in a blackberry and apple crumble, and now I want more, to make:
Summer pudding, or what my kids call Spleen Pudding because my version looks like an internal organ

Probably a really stupid question, but do I need to boil them or anything first to get rid of bugs? Or is it literally a case of pick and freeze? I want to use them for smoothies and crumbles.

We've made jam and I have 6.5kg in the freezer and I'm not allowed to put more in s there will be no space for anything else. Seems dd or too pick more fresh yesterday for a crumble and I need to get some cheap gin to do blackberry gin and soon, sloe gin.

I need a chest freezer. The amount of blackberries this year I could have filled one and still left plenty of bettors for others and for the wildlife.

I don’t wash them but always use immediately before anything crawls out of them. It’s not a stupid question.

I suppose it’s more efficient on freezer space to freeze purée in small containers for the smoothies.

The berries we've had this year have actually been pretty bugless (sad reflection of crash in insect population perhaps), but you can give them a quick soak in water with a tbsp or so of salt for 10 minutes then drain and rinse, but tbh a bit of bug protein in your crumble will probably go unnoticed.
