All the recipes I have found have golden syrup in them and we have run out.
Is there anything I can use instead, such as honey maybe? Or coudl I just leave it out?

I reckon a bit of honey will do the trick - it will just make them sweet, they'll stick fromthe chocolate as it is!

I just use melted chocolate and cornflates.

i tried twice with the honey AND also with the Golden syrup...i felt both were very gooey and chewy..it was falling apart!!!.....best to go for melted choc and cornflakes.

When I was a kid it was just melted choc and cornflakes. Couldn't afford golden syrup back in them days .

Twiglett · 20/01/2008 17:30

according to DH you shuld only use melted choc but I think that makes them really dry and dull

you could melt marshmallows init .. if you have

wouldn't put honey in personally

I think cornflake cakes need the syrup, although I would always only use chocolate if I were making Rice crispy cakes. So do you have any rice crispies

Just melt chocolate on its own and stir in cornflakes.

If you put them in the fridge they should firm up and stick okay.

Pannacotta · 20/01/2008 18:13

Thanks all will try them minus the syrup!

Never heard of using golden syrup on 'em! Add a bit of butter to your melted choc, though. Yum!

serin · 20/01/2008 19:41

I'm with you Meg
.........add butter, the kids love them.
