Instant Pot size

I'm thinking about purchasing one as a gift for someone, but have a quick question about sizing please. Can you cook single or double portions only in the 5.7l pot size or are they like my large slow cooker in that you can only cook family size meals in them?

You can cook a single portion in it too, but it comes into its own for family sized portions - if for a single person who doesn't want to batch cook or feed others maybe get the smaller size?
