I had an issue with my edible cake topper not coming off the backing.
I looked on line for answers, buy no help, soo I thought I would share with everyone, so they don't panic like I did, making a cake for an event, the evening prior.
I purchased it 6 weeks early, the cake I was making was in the middle of July. I did keep the topper in a cool dry place, but could not remove from the backing to apply to my whip cream topping cake.
Originally I followed the instruction on how to remove backing from paper, but nothing worked.
First I put it it the freezer, for 5 minutes, then ten minutes, then 1/2 hr., Still stuck on paper, soo then, I tried the oven approach, the hairdryer, Still nothing worked.
So, I found the solution, which worked great.
First, I put the topper on a foiled cookie sheet with image face up, with out the plastic bag it came in, preheated over to 150 degree F, put the pan in the oven for 10 minutes, then I took the topper out of oven, the pan was hot, but not the editable topper, then I slide the topper back into the plastic bag it came in, and put in on another cookie sheet and set it in the freezer for 5 minutes. When I took the topper out of plastic bag,
I was shocked,... it peeled right off the backing.
I made my own homemade Whip cream icing, and put the edible on cake 18 hours prior to the party, and it worked great.
