I’m doing a buffet type tea for a few friends and their children this weekend, we have a pizza oven so are doing a few pizzas, what else would you put out I don’t want it to just be pizza.

Wine

Pizza is pizza I don't think it needs anything else. Definitely not garlic bread or more dough.

MammaWeasel · 05/07/2022 21:32

Potato salad? Garlic bread or doughballs? Salad stuff?

catwithflowers · 05/07/2022 21:33

🍷 and 🥗

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 05/07/2022 21:34

Coleslaw is my favourite pizza side. Plus a a mixed salad.

bravotango · 05/07/2022 21:36

Caprese salad, normal green salad, sliced cucumber, Aperol spritz, olives

DilkushaKitchen · 05/07/2022 21:36

Nice rocket salad, or big bag of "Italian" salad from the supermarket dressed with olive oil and balsamic, maybe with some thinly sliced red pepper in it too?

Clevs · 05/07/2022 21:37

Salad and coleslaw. Wedges/chips if you want but not really needed IMO as it would be a lot of carbs and pizza is quite filling anyway. If I was coming I'd love a garlic and herb dip for my crust too!

GiltEdges · 05/07/2022 21:37

Coleslaw, potato salad, green salad, pasta salad... basically just all the salad!

TheFlis12345 · 05/07/2022 21:38

Garlic bread/ tomato and mozzarella salad / green salad / chicken wings.

CatSeany · 05/07/2022 21:38

Seasoned potato wedges and garlic bread or dough balls for carb sides. Also some nice salad items (ideas include a grain-based salad, a tomato and mozzarella salad, or a greek salad). If the kids are young then you could do carrot/cucumber sticks and sliced tomatoes served separately. Coleslaw, potato salad and hummus are things that seem to appear when I make picky type meals. Depending on whether you need more 'main' things, you could do marinated chicken strips, halloumi, falafels etc.

limitededitionbarbie · 05/07/2022 21:39

Everything everyone has said you can't go wrong. Has anyone said chicken wings

bellac11 · 05/07/2022 21:39

Does anyone remember the Pizzaland platter, it was half a thin crust margherita pizza, with a black olive, coleslaw and a jacket potato.

I think that was really the sophistication of the time, 80s.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 05/07/2022 21:39

Oh yes chicken wings are great with pizza too. Easy to prepare and not too expensive.

Bimblybomeyelash · 05/07/2022 21:41

I do a load of salads. Bag of green salad , tomato salad, cous cous and roasted veg salad, and some coleslaw. Maybe a potato salad too if there are lots of us. If there are just a few of us we have our own pizzas. But if there are more than 4 then I slice them and share them rather so that there isn’t a last person getting hungry and jealous.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/07/2022 21:43

Green salad is all pizza really needs, perhaps some crudités depending on the audience in question...

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 05/07/2022 21:44

Always garlic bread! Wings and wedges are good too!

purplecorkheart · 05/07/2022 21:45

Depending on the ages of the kids I would probably have another option. Younger kids may not want to be waiting around while pizzas are being made up and cooked. Maybe something like sausages and hotdog buns.

For the adults I would probably do salads and maybe something like wedges etc but would give serious consideration on how effiencienty the pizzas can be served.

How may people are you realistically feeding? I know some kids who will eat more than an adult.
Realistically are people coming to be coming hungry or just expecting a snack? How fast is it actually going to take to serve pizzas from putting sauce and topping on pizza, transfering to oven, cooking, removing, cutting and serving?
All that will factor into what you should serve as a side to be honest?

scrivette · 05/07/2022 21:46

Garlic bread is a must.
When I do pizza for DC I also cut a few raw carrot and cucumber sticks so I can convince myself it's a decent meal.

fluffiphlox · 05/07/2022 21:47

Salad. You don’t need all this carby stuff. It’s already on a dough base.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/07/2022 21:48

Mixed salad, olives, some prosciutto.

choosername1234 · 05/07/2022 21:48

Corn on the cob

b0wser · 05/07/2022 21:49

Coleslaw
Sweet potato wedges
Garlic bread
Doritos and dip
Salad

MiniMoosey · 05/07/2022 21:50

We usually do chicken wings, salad, chilli cheese bites and olives.

speakout · 05/07/2022 21:50

I agree about wings too- and salad.
Not garlic bread- some protein and veg would be good
Maybe some roasted vegetables or a platter of seafood.
