The tubs of Lipton Iced Tea powder are (surprisingly) much nicer than the ready made bottles

DD loves Lipton's Lemon Iced Tea and she persuaded me to buy a tub so that she could make it at home. But she doesn't like it. I tried it and found it much nicer than the bottle stuff, which I quite like but find too sweet. When I make up the powdered stuff the flavour part is more soluble than the sugar. So I add a couple of teaspoons and stir gently, the sugar separates out and sits at the bottom of the glass and I end up with a drink that isn't too sweet. It's a pity I can't get the Peach or Mango version as a powder, the peach is my favourite if only it was less sweet.

<Waits for a chorus of 'it's so easy to make yourself and healthier too, I don't know why you'd waste your money on that stuff'>

I love iced tea. Is this stuff OK on the calories?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/06/2022 19:11

It's not great on calories tbh, even though it says 'low calorie' on the bottle. It's around 100 calories per bottle. I would guess that what I'm making from the powder would be lower calorie as I am rinsing quite a bit of sugar out of the bottom of my glass at the end, but I don't know how much lower.

Where do you buy it?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/06/2022 19:21

I'm in Ireland so I bought it from this website. I also tried a few different flavours of La Croix while I was ordering anyway, avoid the coconut flavour.

If you're in the UK I think it's more widely available, it's on Amazon if you can't get it anywhere else.

Lyft (sp?) does a reduced sugar one, blue lid yellow jar, available in larger supermarkets (tea area).

Now if anyone can find peach iced tea powder I'd very much like to know where.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/06/2022 19:25

Lift has saccharin in it which I don't really like the taste of.

Lidl sell their own peach and lemon flavours

TamSamLam · 20/06/2022 19:32

Right, I know where I'm shopping this week now.
Thanks @keeperofthetrolls

Powder?

Yeah, but its not a fine powder. It looks more like gravy granules.
