What do you serve to guests to go with Pizza?

Hello,
Just that really. We got a pizza oven earlier this year and have just used it ourselves and we only have pizza. We now have guests coming and feel like we can't just give them pizza. What other bits do you make to go along with the pizza.
It's an ooni oven and we have a plate that goes in for fish & meat.
Want to keep it simple too as sometimes the pizzas can be a faff as we're still getting to grips with it!

@DinosaurOfFire I had a pizza in Rome that was a base of caramelised onions, with thin slices of potato across the top with cheese, pancetta, rosemary sprinkles and little dollops of yogurt. Was very tasty.

Coleslaw, chips, corn on the cob, green salad, garlic bread.

i haven’t found a recipe for home yet. So if I make at home I just skip the sauce so far. There is a local pizza place that does a very light garlic cream sauce and it’s amazing. I’m sure a better or more dedicated cook wouldn’t have trouble replicating it. I’ve tried Alfredo sauce. It’s a gut bomb and just way too heavy.

What pizza oven did you get op and would you recommend it?

I like a few chips or spicy wedges or sometimes just eat the pizza. DH likes garlic bread and a green salad with rocket and cherry tomatoes with balsamic dressing. DS likes a few wedges and some salad too. I like to leave room for dessert, lemon cheesecake.

a couple of tips to save you time -

If you make hummus yourself there's always too much but you can freeze it.

To chop cherry tomatoes. put them on a little plate, put another plate on top, then slide the knife through the gap. my favourite life hack ever.

We have a pizza oven. No one wants salad, wedges, corn on the cob. They want pizza from a wood fired oven.

Do garlic bread. Just pizza base cooked bare and add garlic butter like they do in Pizza Express. If you can get it, the Lurpak garlic butter is great.

Your guests will love you forever and will beg for a return invite.

I agree with this, although I am a green salad fiend. I’d offer something to nibble on before the pizzas are cooked – crudités or olives or something light – but then make pizza the star of the show, as it is. A lot of the suggestions here sound like Dominos sides – coleslaw and potato wedges and dips – which is a different kettle of fish to pizza-oven pizza. Also don’t serve a kettle of fish.

We used to put some salad on the table but it always ended up being ignored so now they're lucky if they get a token tub of supermarket coleslaw. Probably depends on your friends though, ours view pizza as a full meal.

@DinosaurOfFire I don't like tomato sauce on pizzas very much and I just use a (liberal) coating of garlic oil on the base before it goes in the pizza oven. It's delicious.

I highly recommend garlic oil, goat's cheese, red onion, black olives and proscuitto, with fresh rocket on the top after cooking.

Or garlic oil, blue cheese, pear, capers, again, with fresh rocket on the top after cooking.

Nice fresh green salad. Maybe watermelon for dessert. Don’t overthink

I am horrified by these suggestions. Corn? WTAF? Potato salad? I can hear 1 million Italians fainting.

Beer is the only thing you should drink with pizza (although I do allow myself red wine). And possibly make a small salad. ONLY oil and vinegar (plus sale and pepe). But that's all.
