I'm doing a cheese and wine night for two friends on Friday and struggling for inspiration. So far I've got some nice Comté and a Brie. Thinking of getting olives, a sourdough loaf, grapes, celery/cucumber sticks and figs. Any recommendations for a third cheese, crackers, chutneys and other picky bits? (Just no meat please!)

Nuts, really good honey, apples, crusty French bread and unsalted butter. Grapes.

Aged Gouda is absolutely delicious- it’s nothing like the rubbery red waxed version. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Cornish Yarg. X🧀🤤

bellac11 · 23/05/2022 22:22

Pecorino, with or without truffle
Lancashire/Caerphilly/yarg/Wensleydale
A strong cheddar
Manchego (although can be similar to pecorino)
Lord London, unbeatable, like butter
Double gloucester

I love cheese, Ive forgotten more cheese than I can remember. Irresistible.

Try Sussex Charmer. It's a great hybrid of strong cheddar and Parmesan.

How long do you roast the figs for?

About an hour, low heat. Split on half, drizzle honey put in oven.

Walnuts with honey. Was first introduced to this divine combo on a cheeseboard in an little Italian restaurant in London!

Manchego and Castello blue cheese, maybe a soft goats cheese
caramelised onion chutney and maybe a chilli jam
peppadew peppers stuffed with cream cheese from a jar
carrs water biscuits
Sliced green apple with grapes and celery

Blacksticks blue! Favourite cheese ever.

Definitely second this , if you have not see / tried it , it's a blue veined cheese but unlike most it's orange in colour .
It's milder than most Stilton's and not as crumbley.

The only place I can always get it is the co-op.

I would also have some good strong pickles
