Looking for ideas or recipes for 10+ people, all adults. I'm not a massive fan of chilli and I worry that a curry will be a bit marmite for such a large group - too hot, too mild etc.

A beef or chicken casserole would be fine I think. Or a tagine.

TwigTheWonderKid · 13/05/2022 13:08

Stroganoff, mushroom or beef.

ZenKaleidoscope · 13/05/2022 13:09

How about a mild curry with a hot sauce that people can add to it if they want.

DockOTheBay · 13/05/2022 13:09

Chicken in white wine sauce
Something Chinese like sweet and sour or beef and black bean sauce

I also think a mild curry would probably be fine. People might prefer it spicy but would eat it mild. Pad it out with nan breads and poppadoms

Fillet Steak

Curry is the obvious one, mild, with some spicy chutneys to go on the side.

floofycroissant · 13/05/2022 13:20

Oooh tagine is interesting

I was also thinking stroganoff, but haven't ever made it ahead. Wondered if the creaminess could be a bit grim a day later

Chicken tikka kebab pieces and a large salad or some wraps

Beef casserole flavoured with onions, cumin, coriander, tinned tomatoes and orange juice. Cook the beef slowly for a long time so it is tender. It's tasty but not spicy.

Can do similar with chickpeas instead of beef.

MintyIguana · 13/05/2022 13:29

Beef goulash, or creamy mustardy chicken and mushroom casserole?

Geranium1984 · 13/05/2022 13:48

Beef bourguignon !!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/05/2022 13:49

Goulash for sure! Crusty baguettes and butter with it too

floofycroissant · 13/05/2022 14:41

I went down a tagine Google hole, and think I've settled on a harissa meatball stew, with coriander chutney. It's lacking veg, but I guess I can add peppers or spinach maybe?

Thanks for all the suggestions, lots of ideas for next time

Cajun beef stew
Chicken Arrabiata (I'd mostly have with pasta, but you could have it with rice)

crosstalk · 13/05/2022 18:43

Def add spinach. Can you make it up to a 100 and we can all come?

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 16/05/2022 10:57

When I’ve kept stroganoff for a day extra it’s split which was a bit grim.

Id go mild curry - if you did a mild Thai one you could chop some fresh chilli and people who wanted heat coud add that
