How to convert a bean-hater

BeanHater · 09/05/2022 04:02

DH has successfully converted to liking lentils, via blended porky soups and then curry.
Does anyone please have recipe ideas for making a similar journey with canned beans? He hates both the taste and texture, but wants to be healthy. Thank you.

In pasta
Roasted chick peas

I recent made a chicken thigh traybake with cannellini beans. I ate the leftovers the next day and the beans had developed a great taste. But if it's texture that's the problem then that won't help

Beans are disgusting. Leave your dh alone

This!

I detest beans. I myself make chilli with beans for those who like them. I pick mine out. Pasta Fagioli is equally horrible. Hummus, no. Chickpeas, lentils, bleugh. Baked beans, likewise. Don't like capers either. It must be the texture.

However I do eat lots of weird fish and seafood.......

I agree entirely that there is no reason to eat beans if you find them disgusting. I find meat disgusting so I don't eat it and wouldn't be thrilled if someone kept making me.

I was never a big bean fan (and it turns out I have an intolerance to them which might explain why) but my favourite bean recipe was a chicken, chorizo and butter bean casserole - think onion, garlic, tomatoes, paprika. It has a lower bean - rest of it ratio so might be a place to start?

Refried beans on nachos as well (though not healthy!)

I’ll occasionally eat hummus or baked beans but otherwise I really don’t like them, however well they’re disguised.

Just popping back to report that he has eaten tinned beans 3 times in the last week, and tonight he spontaneously suggested putting beans in the salad. Wonders will never cease. This is what turned him: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/epic-summer-salad

Good luck to you all and your beanhaters.
