Breakfast to go ideas

I currently make overnight oats to take to work, or grab a cereal bar and banana. I’m looking for some different ideas that can be made ahead to grab and go in the morning. Any suggestions?

Not sure this totally counts as make in advance but I used to toast a bagel and quickly butter with peanut butter to eat from a napkin on my way out the door.

Yoghurt with granola can be eaten from a tupperware, no problem.

I do something similar with a bagel for DD’s lunch - I toast and let the bagel cool down and then pop cream cheese and a slice of ham on it and wrap it in foil

Tortilla - can use up leftover vege on a Sunday evening and it'll last a couple of days

Yogurt and fruit, then a little pot of granola to add to it when you want to eat

I've been taking overnight oats or an instant porridge pot, and have been wondering if there's a way of making your own instant porridge to juts add hot water to at work.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie
Making your own instant porridge is easy, oats, milk powder, whatever flavour/sweetness you like & just add boiling water- give it a good stir & a couple of minutes to thicken.

You can experiment with whizzing some of the oats in a blender/food processor or toasting the oats in the oven beforehand.

I used to do this years ago when travelling for work as I hate work hotel breakfasts. Cinnamon & sugar in the oats & an apple cut into it 😃

@GibbonsGoatsGibbons Thanks so much for that. Any idea what quantities of oats and milk powder? Just bog standard porridge oats?

Bog standard rolled oats - if you blend some you get a smoother/thickens quicker porridge

I can't remember proportions as it was years ago but if you started with just less the weight of oats as per your preferred packet, & checked the powdered milk for the amount of powder per the volume of water you need to add (plus a bit if you want it creamy) then added flavour/sweetness to taste you should be able to crack it 😃

if you want to make a batch of mixture & just scoop out a portion then definitely blend some of the oats plus milk powder & sugar before mixing back with the oats - stops all the sugar just falling down between the oats!

Thank you. I'll get some milk powder and have a play.

My favourite is smoked mackerel, hard boiled eggs and cherry tomatoes!! I find it fills me up much longer than carbs.
