Can I bake a loaf cake in a round tin? Love a recipe I’ve used before but want it in a round cake!
It uses a 2lb loaf tin do what size round tin should I use ?
TIA 😊

I suspect a loaf tin is used because it allows for a deeper cake which needs longer cooking time for the heat to reach the centre?

I would use an 8’’ round tin assuming you want the dense loaf like quality?

I should be clearer… I do this sometimes and it’s served me well.

Well ive just baked a cake in a loaf tin which ive previously always baked in a round tin - you just have to adjust the baking time. I normally use an 8” round tin which takes around 25 mins but left the loaf tin in for 10 mins longer as the cake was deeper.

Thank you! So if using the 8” tin, should I bake it for less time?

Take it out 10min earlier and check with a skewer in the middle.
