Do your neighbours have any? Can you pop to Co-op?

You won't get the same taste but some katsu curry recipes use buttermilk, and you can usually substitute yogurt for buttermilk flavourwise? But don't add yogurt til the end or it goes grainy.

It is fine without, in fact I have never used it as an ingredient tbh

Georgyporky · 19/04/2022 19:24

Do you have dessicated coconut? Add boiling water, leave for a while, then press hard through a sieve.
BTW, too late now, but blocks of creamed coconut last for ages & can be stored in the fridge when opened, or coconut powder is even better.

Im sure it will be fine better without it...I've never heard of using coconut in an authentic katsu curry and I make it a lot.

Hoppinggreen · 19/04/2022 21:40

I make it without and it’s fine

Gousto recipes don't always work as links but this is the one I've made. It uses mango chutney. Gousto katsu tofu with sticky rice if the link hasn't worked
