Mine - cold, slightly burnt wholemeal toast with fridge cold butter. It has to be sliced and pushed onto the bread rather than spread.

I eat English mustard with roast chicken.

Nigella does it too so I feel I am in great company!

Bolognaise sauce (without the pasta!) as a sandwich filling on buttered bread. Delicious.

Woman after my own heart. Cottage pie also works well 😋

Mashed potato on buttered bread, as a sandwich

Catrice · 06/04/2022 11:51

Is the bolognese sauce/cottage pie hot or cold ?

SpringLobelia · 06/04/2022 12:04

Ooh that reminds me of when my mother would make me meatloaf sandwiches. On white bread. Cold with ketchup. Glorious.

tiddlywinks2 · 06/04/2022 12:08

My weird habit... I can't eat a chocolate bar normally, whatever it is I have to nibble all the chocolate off the bar, because of this I won't eat a broken crunchie etc Blush

Cbd333 · 06/04/2022 17:33

The mashed potato sandwich kind of reminds me of a friend at university who frequently
ate mild curry supernoodle sandwiches!

Is this weird I thought mustard went went with any meat. If there’s a roast, there is a ramekin of mustard on the table at my house.

@hellcatspangle oh, yum!!

@Catrice hot. Also love it as an open sandwich and eating with a knife and fork.

I used to love a supernoodle sandwich on white bread with loads of butter.

Not sure if this one is weird but I love a cracker with spreadable cheese topped with spicy tomato sardines (the boneless ones you get in a tin)

Kentucky83 · 08/04/2022 18:12

Mine is a meal that Mam used to make when we were kids and it's a little unusual but so nice - pork chop with mashed potatoes and tinned tomatoes. Might sound like a weird combo but it's lovely. I use Aldi specially selected pork loin steaks for preference.

Georgyporky · 08/04/2022 18:21

I remember a character in "Vicar of Dibley" making sardine & banana sarnies - yuk.
But then fish & banana was on the menu in Madeiran restaurants.
Couldn't bring myself to try it. I'll stick to lambs' brains & sweetbreads - when I can find them.

I don't adhere the notion that certain types of food belong to certain meals or times of day.
So, soup for breakfast is fine by me.

Cheddarcheeseandsodabread · 08/04/2022 19:02

I used to love ginger nut biscuits with a smear of butter and topped with brown sauce - maybe something to do with sweet & savoury?

I also only ever eat currant buns with butter and cheese.

cheapskatemum · 08/04/2022 22:34

People find my predilection for red (or any other colour) pepper and peanut butter odd. I used to love it in a wholemeal bread sandwich, but now have a wheat allergy. Ryvita or oatcakes have to suffice, but the squidgyness of the bread with the crunch of the pepper and glueyness of the peanut butter was textural heaven, as well as delicious.

kennycat · 08/04/2022 23:16

I had peas in my sarnie once because I’d run out if cucumber and now I have leftover veg in sandwiches every single day now. I cook way too much veg on purpose. It’s become quite ridiculous though. My sandwiches are about 3 inches thick. I need to rein it in a bit…

IndistinctChatter · 08/04/2022 23:28

At least once a week, DS & I have a jar each of Peppadew Halkidiki Olives Stuffed With Soft Cheese Paired With Piquante as a meal.

MrOllivander · 08/04/2022 23:30

Egg mayo on marmite rice cakes
I do a happy dance every time I have it as it's so good and my boss is HmmConfused "weird"

Biffatcrafts · 08/04/2022 23:34

I love marmite in a thin drizzle over scrambled eggs, and with soft boiled eggs I put a dollop on top and then dip my toast soldiers through the marmite into the runny egg underneath. I love it, but my DH has to leave the room when I eat it ... he thinks it's disgusting GrinGrin

dannydyerismydad · 08/04/2022 23:35

Peas straight out the freezer.

And if no one is watching, sometimes I eat lumps of butter with a spoon.

Giggorata · 09/04/2022 03:01

Apple sauce, or even just stewed apple with rosemary roast potatoes. They are also about the only thing I add salt to.
We're having roast lamb tomorrow, must remember to get some apples out of the freezer…

Twopandemicpregnancies · 09/04/2022 03:31

Peanut butter and cheddar sandwiches 😋

Me too so the butter sits thick on top!
numananumana · 09/04/2022 03:37

Plain, Smokey bacon or prawn cocktail crisp sandwiches with ketchup on.

Hot beef stew and dumplings in a buttered bread roll.
