Tasty soft food

My OH is having dental work next week and can only eat soft food for a week. This will be torture for him, he loves his food. So ok, porridge, scrambled eggs, soup, apple puree ... but can I have some suggestions for savoury soft food to serve for dinner.

Fish pie, dhal

jowly · 17/03/2022 19:05

Macaroni cheese, maybe lasagne

Dancingonarainbow · 17/03/2022 19:10

Cottage pie with processed pies .
If he has extractions or stitches please don’t cook rice - I won’t go into details , but I found out the hard way that it is a bad idea.

Following as my son is going to have to follow a soft food diet for 6 weeks after mouth surgery. Anything too liquid like soup makes his reflux worse so it's going to be an interesting few weeks.

Quiche, cheesy jackets, slimming world lentil cottage pie is tasty if you're trying to avoid meat

Caspianberg · 17/03/2022 19:19

Poached egg on avocado

Minestrone soup

Try Quaker Oats grits--they are eze to make in a few minutes by adding boiling water. Soft, tasty, add butter, or better Brummel spread, melted cheese, hot sauce (Cholula)
soup-but puree it and serve it only medium temp, not hot or cold
cottage cheese-puree it
soft boiled eggs
creamed spinach
instant potatoes-add enough water to make soft-dont eat HOT
Hope this list helps someone know that eating soft is possible. I have dental issues so had to create my own way of eating---

Risotto with peas or other soft vegetables.

Try the Annabel Karmel baby foods book, I cook the whole family the recipes and just mash up for baby, all really delicious and healthy too. All are soft or Mashable.

I was coming along with a warning about rice and extractions! (7 grains in the socket of an extracted wisdom tooth!)

Fish cakes are soft, could make lots of variations, spicy Thai, salmon and water cress, tuna, sweet potato and chilli, cod, pea, parsley and lemon with homemade tartar sauce.

Shakshuka could work as long as you chopped the veg fairly small and cooked them until soft before adding the eggs.

Curry or chilli and rice
Jacket potato beans and cheese
Lasagne
Fish pie
Casserole/mashed potato

BlueHotel · 17/03/2022 20:00

Wow, that was so quick, thank you everybody. Lots of ideas there, I'll be trying them out. Dhal jumped out at me, soft but with all the curry flavours he likes. And I have taken the rice warning on board!
