Cod with a crispy coating (could use other fish too). Grate lemon rind and parmesan into bread crumbs. I use those orange crumbies. Add pepper to taste and capers are optional. Put fish into a baking dish and sprinkle the crumb mix on top. Bake till cooked and serve with veg.

Cod steamed 10 mins with peas/carrots/brocolli/cauliflower all chopped up small. Make (or buy) a cheese sauce and mix it all together when done - serve with mash

Basa is quick and cheap, eg try dipping in soy sauce with grated ginger then rolling in corn flour then frying, or basa cooked in korma sauce (or any coconut based one) works great. Plaice or sole is best simply cooked in a little sunflower oil with a few prawns then add salted butter and black pepper right at the end, serve with new potatoes, carrot batons and samphire.

I roast fish a lot - a whole side of salmon or pollock, that kind of thing. 12-15 mins at 180 fan will do it. You can also slow roast it for 45-50 mins at 120 fan, that's easy as it can't overcook, but not quick.

Yesterday with salmon, I first fried sliced lemons and red onions in butter with chopped tiny gherkins (should have been capers but I ran out). Poured the whole pan over a side of salmon, roasted 15 mins, then spooned into chunks onto a platter and topped with loads of dill and sesame seeds. Inspired by a smoked salmon bagel!

That’s brilliant thank you, it’s the quick and easy chuck in the oven with some flavourings that are so helpful….

Spent the week being pescatarian and liking it but new ideas are brilliant.

We really like this one. Quick, easy and not too many ingredients. It can also be adapted for children. Mine like it with noodles instead of rice.

Tinned sardines in tomato sauce/spicy version available too, mixed with linguine, raisins, capers, peppers, onions. Topped with lemon, parsley and parmesan breadcrumbs.

This pasta recipe is similar to the Sicilian one with sultanas, pinenuts and fennel. Sounds odd I know, but its delicious. I've also made it with just a tin of anchovies if no sardines in the house. Its also cheap and quick!

Whole fish is even cheaper (gutted and scaled!) and this keeps it so moist. You basically add lemon/herbs or just pepper- wrap and bake:

Spaghetti with sardines sounds top.
