Unsaturated margarine

Hi all. I posted this in chat but then realised it might be better placed here! I was wondering if anyone knows which brand does unsaturated margarine?

I found a crumble recipe on the British heart foundation website, which I was going to make for my dad who recently had a heart attack. One of the ingredients is unsaturated margarine, but it doesn’t recommend any.

I’ve had a look online and can’t seem to find a specific brand that does this. Stork has quite a high saturated fat content, albeit lower than butter!

Does anyone know what brand this could be? Thanks in advance!

Flora maybe

I've used vegetable oil or light olive oil before no idea of quantity just did it by eye

Flora is low in saturated fats relative to butter, and high in polyunsaturated which are a better type of fat.

You need to be aware of the total fat content too. For something like crumble you will probably need at least 60% fat content, or else it will just evaporate and the crumble will burn.

Actually I think Flora may have been reformulated since it was bought from Unilever, so it may no longer be as low in saturates/ high in polyunsaturated?
Basically your 'unsaturated' fats are polyunsaturated, which are found in sunflower oil and monounsaturated, found in olive oil.

So if you go for a 60-70% fat sunflower or olive oil-based spread you should be fine.

If it were me, I would make the crumble topping with butter but bake it separately and make a much smaller amount then sprinkle on top of stewed fruit and eg. Low fat Greek yogurt when you serve. So you get the yummy flavour but less fat.
