Stream line weekly menus

Anyone have any advice on how to stream line weekly menus for the family? I'm tired of how long it takes every week to meal plan, order online shop and put it all away.

I know a couple of people who have a 3 week rolling menu but that would drive me batty.

I usually ask the DC to choose an evening meal each and have a night off each week, so they just leaves 4 evening meals to plan, less if ice already done some batch cooking.

I totally agree though that sometimes it's just totally overwhelming.

Yeah. I've become much better at this. I try to think 3 days ahead using up what I have in the house. I've gently built up my batch cooked store in the freezer. I used to promise myself Id cook for a whole weekend and have enough food for weeks. I ended up not really doing anything at all. Each week I aim to cook two dishes of double quantity for the freezer. I buy and cook that day. No more putting packets of chicken breasts in the freezer for another day. I buy all the ingredients I need and don't buy much fresh veg. I'm less fussy about meals being accompanied with the perfect side dish. I also always have pizza in the freezer for when I can't be bothered. I make sure I have bread freezer, milk in the freezer or out of the back door in the winter. I also make sure I have treats in and ingredients to bake with incase we fancy something delicious. I've cut my shopping bill tremendously. I avoid the shops at all times unless I am doing a weekly shop. I buy tins of fruit so we have plenty to last us. Hope that helps.
