How to keep gluten free scones fresh?

MmeHennyPenny · 02/02/2022 11:25

My mum is going into respite care for a few days. She wants to take some gluten free scones with her to eat over the few days but she complains that they go stale very quickly.
Does anyone have any tips?
I’ve tried all the usual methods air tight container Etc. I’m wondering if there is a magic ingredient I could add. I normally use Doves Farm gf sr flour.

ask the care home to microwave them for about 20 seconds just before they serve them to her

I'd microwave them quickly just before eating to freshen them up. I can't promise it'll work for gluten free.
Or, could they go with your mum frozen, so they defrost one fresh whenever she fancies one? I defrost cheese scones in microwave regularly.

I'd ask the care home if you can hand over some frozen ones. Or buy the M&S GF scones which will last OK in their wrappings

Instead of scones, which are rarely good the next day, would she eat these:

They are a sort of scone/rock bun/stollen hybrid and they keep really well.

Thank you all!
The Stollen bites look perfect.

Tha k you @Yarnivore , my DD didn't get to have any stollen this Christmas, so I am going to make these for her this weekend. She will be so happy!

I hope your mum is ok during her stay @MmeHennyPenny Thanks
