Yorkshire pudding or Toad in the Hole in glass Pyrex dish?

I’m just wondering if anyone has tried this.

I’ve never cooked it before in any kind of dish and I’m hoping a Toad in the Hole would turn out well if I get the dish and oven nice and hot.

Will it work?!

I've done this and it works fine but I have found that it's a bit fluffier if I do it in a thinner metal roasting tray

Better in a tin, ideally one you can put on the hob to get really hot.

It will work in the Pyrex though and you’ll be able to see if it’s all cooked

Put the sausages in hot and cooked, so the oil, the sausages, the dish, everything is mad hot when the batter goes in. Also don't have the batter too deep. Then it'll be ok.

It will work but the bottoms of the Yorkshire pudding may not be as crisp.

Ideally you need a tin you can place over the hob whilst pouring the batter in, keeping the oil smoking hot after taking it out of the oven for its preheating.

My husband's granny made the best Yorkshire's and toad in the hole. She used a glass dish.

I always use a Pyrex dish for toad in the hole.

DH always does them in glass Pyrex and they come out Rosen and fluffy every time.

Works fine. I do mine in Pyrex, washes better in the dishwasher.

Oh fantastic! Thanks so much for all your replies 😀😀😀

I love Pyrex as it’s so easy to clean and can see what’s happening!

Looking forward to hopefully making a Toad for a birthday meal in a few weeks. Yum 😋

I always do toad in the hole in Pyrex. The "tin" is much easier to clean. Yes, just need to make sure everything's really hot.

If its for a birthday meal in a while, might be worth having a practice in the run up to iron out any glitches. It took me 3 goes to get mine just right, though I didn't get advice here before I started. 😆

Yes, I think I will have to have a practice run somehow.

Maybe I should make a baby sized one and then scoff it myself in secret!
