I do roast potatoes in lard. So bad, but sooo good!
What is yours?

Am also a big fan if Nigella's 'double butter' technique for toast..... Never heard of this but I do it myself - one layer of butter while the toast is still warm so it melts. Then another layer once it’s cooled so you get to enjoy the butter in all its glory! And I wonder why I’m 15 stone Blush

Nigella has a recipe for marmite pasta, which is just butter and marmite (and pasta)

@PrimroseBed

Always have butter with peanut butter on toast. I only realised recently that other people just put the PB straight on the toast, like it's the War.
My sister does this

You little weirdos you

@LoveFall

I have discovered that just a bit of MSG is amazing.

After reading all I could on it and concluding it is actually harmless and really just something that is in foods already. The umami flavour.

I saw a segment on TV about this - they gave people Chinese food with NO MSG in it and then Italian food which had naturally occurring MSG. Everyone complained about the Chinese food gave them headaches and made them feel awful, then extolled the virtues of the Mediterranean diet which made them feel splendid and full of energy!

Aromat. You can rescue anything bland with aromat. On the continent they do aromat herbs 😂😂😜

Butter on basically everything, I put butter through the drained spaghetti when we have spaghetti bol and it's is DELISH.

Also bovril on crumpets (butter first)

Butter! In, on, over and under everything.

Also the filthiest dirty secret ever... leftover warm thin crust meat feast pizza slice in fresh soft buttered bread the next morning. Oooof. So filthy and guilt inducing I've not done this for years.

Doggydarling · 27/01/2022 20:14

I make soda bread, slice it thickly, smother the slice(s) with good quality salted butter and fry, its great on its own, even better as part of a full fry up. My mother knew how much my father liked it so she taught him to bake bread before she passed away, he could always cook but was new to baking in his 70's.

Bisto. Gravy, spag Bol, shepherds pie, stew, stifado, beef curry...

@DropYourSword

Decent knob of butter in bolognaise - makes a huge difference!
I did this for the first time yesterday! We're trying to get some extra calories into DS so I've been getting a bit butter happy for the whole family. It was great!!

I never used butter bread for bacon butties, to make them healthier I just used to spread the bread with tomato sauce. Then a cafe forgot I'd said no butter and there was a really thick layer. Was in a rush so just ate it. OMG bloody gorgeous. And on a soft white bread roll, none of the whole meal nonsense we always have at home. Now I only ever have 'dirty' bacon butties.
