If you're gluten/dairy free, what meals do you eat?

I've recently had to go gf/df for health reasons. I also can't have beans (not yet sure of lentils/chickpeas)

I'm trying to create a list of meals that I can just glance at instead of scouring cookbooks/websites for ages each week when meal planning.

I have a young family but generally easy to feed.
So far, I've got:
Spaghetti Bolognese with required pasta
Jacket potatoes
Stir fries
Casseroles
Curry

And that's it 😂 I'd prefer not to make lots of cheese-like sauces out of cashews or whatever so stuff like lasagne is a no-go.

What are some of your favourite gluten and dairy free meals?

Recently had to do the same so shamelessly following for ideas.

I like to make hunters chicken without cheese (not the same but haven't found a dairy free version I like yet)
Also do fajitas with gluten free wraps.
Beef stew

I'm coeliac and one of my sons is too, I'm lactose intolerant. I have five kids at home so often cook for 6 or 8 or more depending on whether girlfriends and boyfriends are here. My whole kitchen is gluten free, I cook the same things I used to cook before but use gluten free flour, stock cubes, gravy, etc in regular recipes. Are you actually coeliac rather than avoiding gluten? With coeliac disease you have to be careful about cross contamination in terms of separate toasters and crumbs in jam/butter etc

Dairy free is harder, you can easily avoid cheese but if it's crucial there is dairy free cheese, lactose free milk and soya butter. It depends if the dairy is an allergy or an intolerance in terms of how careful you need to be.

It's all about adapting what you already like.

Special fried rice is another good one, very quick to make if you've precooked the rice (works best with cold rice anyway) and children love it!

How about risottos, taglines, Vietnamese fried pork? I often look on the hello fresh website for ideas as you can filter it easily for allergens

I made this yesterday and it was very tasty. I'm not gluten/dairy free but do have friends who are so I do think about ingredients. This could be done using GF sausages and stock etc

This is another favourite which is GF if you use the right stock. I just use any vegetables I have that need using up rather than the broccoli though.

Are you lactose intolerant or have a dairy allergy?

If it's intolerance it's a lot easier - loads of lactofree options.

I'm low FODMAP (wondering if you are too re: the beans) and it's quite hard, I'm frequently accidentally eating food that triggers symptoms. Lentils tend to be ok so I do things like daal or lentil based stews. Keep things simple with grilled meats, salad, rice, potatoes etc

Going low carb high protein is quite helpful as filling and avoids a lot of the problem foods

We had risotto with mushrooms and peas tonight. I often make savoury rice with whatever veg there is and we have it with salmon fillets. Maybe once a week each we have chips and roast potatoes Otherwise we have stir fries, pasta bakes, veg soup/casseroles.

My husband is a coeliac and lactose intolerant, these are the meals we eat mostly

Fried rice
Burgers and wedges
Sausage, mash onion gravy
Tofu noodle stir fry

Vegan cottage pie
Bhuna and rice

A classic veggie tagine is my go-to. You don't say you're vegetarian so could also look at a chicken and preserved lemon tagine. The veggie one I make is tomato based and the chicken one isn't so the flavours are quite different.

Almost forgot, vegetarian dosas (savoury Indian pancakes) are another go-to. Needs pre planning for the batter but it's made of lentils and rice. There's a good recipe in Jamie Oliver's veg book (though the book itself is quite dairy heavy).

Get the Becky Excell book 'how to make anything gluten free' the vast majority of her recipes are also dairy free/ low fodmap or make suggestions about how to adapt them

I’m coeliac and dairy free. I try my best to eat around things rather than make/ buy too many gf products (although I do love a gf waffle).
So, I don’t eat sandwiches but I may have topped rice cakes / soups / dips / new potatoes and salad/ rice salads.

I don’t like pasta but I do like rice noodles, vegetable rice, mash potatoes and roasties.

I don’t eat biscuits but I do like soya pots, fruit bowls and dairy free yoghurts.

I eat a lot of simple dishes - just fish/ meat with vegetables.

My ed is allergic to dairy and I just cook my usual meals using df subs. A good curry is Pataks jar korma paste as it's df and gf. I do that quite a bit.
A good melty df cheese is Vitalite melting cheese which is lovely on fajitas or pizza. We also tried Violife Camembert and that is really good. There is a df cheese shop online called Faumagerie which is meant to have really good df alternatives. I've yet to order but we want to try their blues.
I would look at what you usually cook and see what ingredients you can exchange for suitable ones.
