Not (necessarily) to do with weight loss or healthy eating etc.

I'm trying to do a lot more homemade this year and also going to try a new recipe every week

Snap! 1 new recipe a week. I started with a list of all our family favourites / regulars and I'm hoping to double it.

I split it into areas eg 10'x veggie, 5 x fish, 5 x Chinese then a few specific meals I like to have when out but don't know how to cook yet. But left room for just general new ones too.

So far both new recipes have made it onto the list as a success!!

Oh that's good that yours have been a success! I did a teriyaki type thing last week and it was only OK, so not sure it will make it into our favourites.

Not sure what recipe to try this week, but possibly will make bread as that would also help with my bid to make more homemade!

I am doing part Gousto and part "cooking my books" this year. I am undergoing chemo and need to be eating better and I have a lot of cookbooks that I flick through but never cook! So this week it's 4 Gousto meals and 2 meals from my books, which gives an evening for a takeaway or a ready meal if we don't feel up to it.

Sauces are my weakness. So this year I’m going to learn to make:
Hollandaise
Aoli
Red wine sauce
Bearnaise
Beurre Blanc
Gravy from scratch

Better use of leftovers and meal planning.
More batch cooking for days we can’t be bothered to cook.
Reduce food waste.

Try more supermarket own brands.

And try a new recipe a week! This was today’s from Asian green which is a great book.

We are so crap at cooking and stuck in a rut!

I'm currently on an exclusion diet (migraine triggers) but I still want nice food. I think foodie goals is a lovely idea OP! I think I will tackle a new recipe each month with a view to perfecting it, or trying it a couple of times with different variations, by the end of the month. This month I'd already decided I want to do , with an egg instead of the mock meat, which I can't eat. I already have all the ingredients except for potato flour, but in this recipe they just use cornflour instead so I'll just do that, & they do use egg so it's obviously a legitimate ingredient for a non vegan recipe. I follow several foodie Youtube channels.

I want to use my food processor more!

I was just eating at my DDs ‘restaurant’ and as I was waiting for my soup was flicking through a pizza and bread book I’ve had for years and years. I fancy making more things from this. Roti, calzone, dessert pizza, yum yum.

Great idea! It’s hard to keep the bits and pieces in stock for sauces I find

I did make the hot & sour soup, it was absolutely delicious. Except, I screwed it up slightly by adding the egg slightly too early - I failed to read the part of the instructions where it said to ensure the liquid was properly bubbling before slowly pouring in the egg... result was partly egg "ribbons" & partly a slightly cloudy soup. It's supposed to be clear, oops! Never mind as it didn't appear to affect the flavour. I'm going to have another go in a couple of days. It was pretty easy though aside from my rookie error & I'll definitely be adding it to my regular rotation.
