Happy new year!

Could anyone who has hired a private chef let me know how much they cost? For their service rather than the cost of the meal which I appreciate can vary

It depends a lot on where you are in the country, what style and quality of food, for how many, how many courses etc.

I cook (but am very much a cook, rather than a chef) and charge between £40- £60 per person for a 3 course meal (depending heavily on ingredients and complexity) , but I wouldn't do it for fewer than 4 people. I think I'm pretty cheap compared to others but I'm building confidence and experience.

Sorry, I think I've misunderstood - do you mean for a one off, or for longer term?

I've charged £150 for an evening plus from
£10 per head in the past for 3 courses fully served but never been requested overly expensive menus.

Mostly my clients choose the cheaper option (from £75) of me dropping of food ahead of guests arriving (so they pass it off as theirs no doubt Grin) so choose menus more suitable.

This is for a dinner party btw. I also do family meal packages that are dropped off frozen or refrigerated including special diets from £20 per meal
