Tinned Cherry tomatoes?

I keep seeing recipes with them. Live in a UK town with a large Tesco xtra but it doesn’t sell them. Have lots of smaller supermarkets nearby but not a Sainsburys/Waitrose/ M&S. We have Asda, Morrisons and small Co-ops. Also Aldi and Lidl.

Anyone any suggestions or does just substituting with chopped tomatoes in recipes work?

You could either use fresh cherry tomatoes or tinned plum tomatoes. Same difference.

Lidls and Morrisons have them.

Pretty sure Aldi do them.

They don’t taste any different to other chopped tomatoes. Possibly slightly higher sugar content in cherry toms? To my taste it seems negligible.

Oh thanks. So many of you still awake at this time 😀 I did wonder if it’s just a case of being slightly sweeter. Our Aldi doesn’t have them and don’t get Ocado here but will check out Lidl/ Morrisons if passing. Neither that close to me. So would plum tomatoes be better than chopped tomatoes?

Or does it really not matter?

Definitely sell them in Asda - in their premium own brand range

Chopped tomatoes are chopped plum tomatoes. You have to pay extra for someone to have chopped them for you before putting them in the can

Aldi or Lidl - they are brilliant
