I have left it very last minute and need to go out to get a gift for my dad. I am going to do a sort of hamper thing with lots of different things that would be used when cooking a curry as he loves making curries. He has all the basic stuff I'm sure but want to include these too.

Not fresh things just pastes, spices. Can anyone provide a list? Thank you if anyone can! I have googled but only basic things are coming up.

Just to say, Indian or Thai curries are what he usually cooks

Do you have an asian grocery near you? I'd get all this stuff from there. Much cheaper and they do nice naan breads etc. I'm in Manchester so I can think of 3 places within a 5 minute drive plus the specialist aisle of all the major supermarkets around here.

It might be nice to choose some recipes and get the ingredients for those. I'm thinking stuff like gram flour or those crispy onions, need a specific recipe but if he's a Dan of Indian cookery then he will use them.

Coconut milk could be a good one so it's not just spices. And some lime pickle.

Thank you all so much! There is an asian supermarket at the end of my road where I am going to go now and get stuff before I meet him at 3.
