Christmas Eve buffet ideas needed!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 18/12/2021 15:00

I am hosting a Christmas Eve buffet (due to lack of proper sit down space) for 7 people, all adults apart from 14 year old DS.
Apart from a cheeseboard and baked Camembert, I am out of ideas. I'd like to do as much myself as I can, rather than relying on frozen party type food as I should have some time for cooking on the 23rd and 24th but I'd rather not spend a day in the kitchen.
What can I do? We're pescetarian so meat is out.

Waldorf salad (celery apple walnuts etc) with flaked smoked mackerel folded in.
Mini salmon & pea tartlets.
Medley of fish patés.
Smoked fish platter.
New potato, beetroot and rollmop herring salad.

Apart from the tartlets, there is no cooking, just chopping and mixing, since you say you want to do the food yourself but not spend all day in the kitchen!
Have a great time! Wine Wine Wine

Vegetarian sausage rolls also good (use veggie sausages with skins to squeeze the filling out), using ready made pastry

I always make a flat bread topped with caramelised onions, fresh figs and dolcelatte. Bakes like that, when you remove from the oven, drizzle with honey and scatter over some fresh rocket and toasted pinenuts. It’s a bit like a posh pizza. If you don’t want to make the flatbread you and buy the ready rolled (not baked) pizza dough and use that.

Stuffed potato skins always go down really well in a buffet here

My friends did a glazed sausage roll wreath that was beautiful and tasty, also a spinach and cheese Christmas tree shaped tear and share out of puff pastry.
