Sausages and oven french fries

A classy dinner, right?

The meal chosen by DS for his party.

I would rather not faff on too much with food while the party's going and am hoping to try to cook it in advance to make it less stressful and limit the food smells in the house while the party is happening: Could anyone tell me if I could grill the sausages in advance then keep them in the slow cooker on auto to keep them warm? How long would they keep like this (would actually want to serve them luke warm as there are a lot of small ones)

And the oven fries? Anyone know of a clever way I can do these in advance without them ending up soggy or dry? Or am I asking too much?!

Don't worry about food smells in the house for a start - it gets the taste buds going.
I wouldn't leave sausages hanging around in a SC - maybe real meat, but nothing that was meant for small children.
I'd do it all in the oven at the time of the party.

You can boil sausages thoroughly so that they are fully cooked and then last minute grill them to give the colour. I do this for barbecues as it means I know the meat is safe and fully hot all the way through!

Sorry but who doesn’t know how to cook sausages and chips :-0! Chuck them in the oven 20 mins job done

How many kids are coming? You could put out sausage rolls if there’s rolls. Take less faffing about.

Loads

Yogaandcocoa · 04/12/2021 20:23

Can't you just cook them at the time?

Do you have an airfryer?

Divebar2021 · 04/12/2021 20:28

Sausages cook in the oven…. They all go in together. For proper butchers sausages I’d put them in for 30 mins. You could keep those warm if you have a separate oven / warming drawer but I’d do the chips and serve immediately.

You're best cooking them at the time and just putting up with the smell tbh

thickthighs73 · 05/12/2021 04:14

Yes hence my comment on your sad desperate situation lol

Thanks everyone.

Last time I had to cook a load of oven chips it took much longer than expected and didn't want to be faffing on for ages in the kitchen so I half cooked them just before the party and finished them off when people were there. I grilled the sausages earlier in the day and then reheated in the microwave. It was all fine.

Do they still sell microchips? They go crispy in the microwave
