Do share, there is a sad cauliflower waiting to find its purpose in the fridge!

Something slow cooked or where some prep can be done in advance would be ideal as with a newborn I can never be too sure how much time I'll get to cook, but I'll take all recipes!

Usually do soup or Cauliflower cheese and fancy a change! I'll probably pass on Cauliflower rice as dH is not keen.

Following for some ideas too!! Dd and I love cauliflower!!

WLmumyvbymexn · 29/11/2021 21:45

Cauliflower is my fave veg! I had one tonight - oil, lemon juice, turmeric, cumin seeds, chilli flakes in a roasting pan in the oven to get hot. Chop cauliflower into florets, chop carrot and red onion into chunks. Throw into pan, mix. Roast on high heat for approx 40 mins, stir now and then.
Tin of green lentils, stir through olive oil, garlic (I cheat with garlic oil), coriander (frozen) salt and pepper. If you can be arsed, add chopped red pepper.
Put in a large bowl, add cauliflower etc when ready. Spoon of natural yoghurt on top. Delish!

Cauliflower tagine can be made in advance as it reheats well and the flavours actually improve with time.
This pilaf is a bit of effort but really worth it.

Allaboutthefood · 30/11/2021 13:06

Thanks all! I'd never heard of banana curry i think I'll give this a go this time! Like the tagine idea too!

I usually roast in - cut into florets and either coat in breadcrumbs and parmesan or marinade for 2 mins in olive oil cumin and tumeric. Serve the first with baked beans and homemade oven chips and the second with a lentil daah and rice.

The best way I have ever had a cauliflower was in an Indian restaurant. It was basically a whole cauliflower covered in a tandoori mix and baked/grilled/cooked until it was beautifully cooked with some charred bits. No recipe as I have not been able to recreate it properly yet, but could be worth attempting!

Cauliflower - anything from whole to florrets
& 1 x jar a cheese and bacon pasta sauce or white lasagne sauce ..or similar
Spray a casserole with fat of preferred sort
Dump in cauli
Throw over sauce and rinse jar with small amount of water and throw over
Chuck in oven..
Any time after 40 mins... eat ...will go for up to 2 hrs easy

Can add sliced potatoes and / or any meaty vege leftovers you like...
Lok at pictures in a cookery book whilst drinking a glass of wine and refusing to be judged.

Sorry, meant to say ..almost any creamy curry, pasta, or coconut based sauces can be substituted.
Or paint big slices with harissa, jerk, cajun spice and oil.. and Roast . 1\2 hr +

Shameless place mark. I love cauliflower.

There's a nice Jamie Oliver recipe where you cover a chicken in spice paste, then roast on open shelf above chopped cauliflower so it get dropped in spiced chicken juice.

coodawoodashooda · 01/12/2021 18:45

Asda does a really fine cauliflower popcorn.

Whingasaurus · 01/12/2021 18:50

Sprinkle with tandoori curry powder spray with a little oil and roast for 15 mins

littlepieces · 01/12/2021 23:03

Roasted cauli is one of my favourite things, quick and easy. To be honest it's nice with just a bit of salt and pepper, nothing else, chopped, 20ish mins in the oven. Goes well with chicken and white fish.
Great in a curry with other veggies like green beans, just add fave curry paste and coconut milk.
Sometimes I make a hummus bowl salad thing with roasted cauli, tomato, olives, pickled red onion and brown rice.

Confusedteacher · 01/12/2021 23:06

Just roasted is lovely, throw in some spices too if you want. I recently discovered that the leaves are also delicious roasted!

Cavagirl · 01/12/2021 23:09

I got this cauliflower and chestnut soup recipe from another MN thread a few years back and it's now an absolute fave in the cava household www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cauliflower-chestnut-soup

butteredbarmbrack · 01/12/2021 23:18

We've made this a few times, pretty easy as you chop everything and mix with the oil and spices then just bung in the oven; add beaten eggs and back in the oven for a bit. Leftovers are perfect cold for lunch.

Cauliflower wings, definitely. The texture just changes depending on the sauce you use and they actually become a bit meaty.

MountainDweller · 01/12/2021 23:41

Another curry... cauliflower, chick pea, green beans and coconut milk. Soften 2 sliced onions, add 2 tbsp curry paste and fry, add 1/2 cauliflower cut into florets and coat in paste. Add 400ml coconut milk and 200ml veg/chicken stock and a dash of soy/tamari. Bring to simmer, cook for 25-ish mins till cauliflower nearly done. Add 250g green beans (frozen is fine) and a 400g tin of chick peas. Cook till beans are done. My go-to curry - especially if I have cauliflower to use up, as I always have everything else!

villamariavintrapp · 02/12/2021 00:16

this one! it's baked whole with spices and coconut milk and roast lemon. Amazing!

Pallisers · 02/12/2021 00:50

I often do this as a lunch dish and sometimes as a side dish with stirfried something else with dinner.

My three favourite cauliflower recipes:

Veggie: Thai Peanut Coconut Cauliflower Chickpea Curry

Great for picnics: Yotam Ottolenghi’s Cauliflower Cake

Minimal prep time: Harissa-marinated chicken with cauliflower

Seems I am unable to copy links on my phone right now but Smitten Kitchen has a great recipe for spiced cauliflower and potatoes that I used to make all the time - this thread has reminded me I should do it again soon
