New to using a food processor. Problems ?? !!

I treated myself to a Cuisinart expert pro - black friday huge saving. Only ever used a vintage Kenwood mixer and a Aldi hand mixer.

Arrived yesterday . Took around 2 hours to unpack all the mysterious bits and now have a mountain of cardboard/ plastic to get rid of and a full cupboard shelf to sort !.

So - decided to make fruit scones using the booklet recipe.
Problem 1 : Put the butter in - switched on and the flour flew everywhere around the bowl I couldn't see a thing so had to keep fully taking off the lid to check. Is this usual ?
Problem 2 : The butter had been processed into teeny tiny granules but not one bit had mixed into the flour.
Problem 3 : On adding the milk it flew all over the bowl again so I had scone dough in the bottom but pancake batter on the lid and external lid where it had flown out of the "dosing tube".

Do you think there are design faults or is it just me being a total novice ?

Thanks in advance for any help / tips

ps btw the scones ( as usual) were like rock cakes. Never been able to make them but at least now I know it's not my warm hands !

have you tried watching a video? Maybe there are subtle differences that would make the difference. (For instance, I would trickle the milk in rather than add all at once)

I really like mine, but 95% of the time just use it for chopping veg when I'm bulk cooking

Thanks @KillingEvenings.
The video was really useful. I will search for some more.
Going to try pastry and diced veg today.
