Feeding my 9 month old.

Hi, I am feeling deflated, I need some advice. I have a 9 month old, who is a big baby, I feel like I havent over feed him, he's always just grown nice an big, he's not over weight if you can even talk about baby wait. People seem to comment that he is big which got me thinking, am I doing something wrong, or over feeling him? So I called the health care visitor who came to see me and my baby, she said he is ok but she can see an increase in size over a short period of time, which she said she wants to see stable, she advised I shouldn't be giving him jar food and to start on normal foods, he has only just cut his first tooth so I was a little worried about how he will manage. So I have been giving him mix veg and potatoes, eggs and chicken over the last 4 days, some times he's ok eating it and will complain but eat but most of the time he's really unhappy and crys, I don't want my baby to be so upset, he was really enjoying thr jar food and it's variety but I just can't seem to make the same flavours I guess. I want him to have a variety of different foods. The health visitor also told me I am giving him too much milk he has around 7 ounce 4 times a day, she said by 12 months he should be only drinking 2 bottles and really needs to cut down. When she explained what I should be giving with normal food she said always top him up with milk which didn't make sense to me but I guess if he doesn't eat the normal food mich the milk would fill him up. I guess I'm so confused now, I don't want to upset my bsby to the point he crys while eating and at thr same time I don't want to stop his development. What should I do? Any advise would be appreciated. As a new mum I am a bit lost.

I'd stick with 4 bottles if you and he are happy with that. He has time before 1 year to cut down the milk gradually as his solids increase. A minimum of 20oz is recommended at that age.

Maybe give a mix of jar alongside other foods. Doesnt have to be one or the other. Also add in finger foods if you haven't already. The weight should stabilise as he starts getting more mobile and is crawling/walking, etc

P.s. at that age mine had milk at 7, 11, 3, 7ish
They had food at 9, 12 and 5
I didn't give milk and food together. At around 10 months they had 3 milk feeds and the 11am one was replaced with a snack and drink of water. By 12 months we were at 2 milk feeds and 2 snacks alongside 3 meals

Why can't he eat what you eat?
