I'm making a grazing board, what would you like?

You're invited for a casual lunchtime grazing board and drinks scenario this weekend. What would you make a beeline for?

I've got:
Warm sourdough slices
Crackers
Smoked cheddar
Shropshire blue
La roule soft cheese
Camembert
Hummus
Continental meat selection
Olives stuffed with garlic
Peppadews stuffed with cream cheese
Pretzels
Pringles (lowering the tone)
Grapes
Celery sticks
Carrot batons

What am I missing?

Slight derail: I used to have a delicious white Stilton with lemon in it, but can’t remember where it was from. The ones with apricot just aren’t the same - the lemon adds a nice tang and putting it on a digestive biscuit makes it taste like cheesecake. Anyone know where I can get some pretty please?

StrongSunglasses · 24/11/2021 19:28

A couple of additional olive options as well as the garlic stuffed.

Agree with cherry tomatoes, figs, nuts and a chutney/jelly for cheese.

Sounds delicious already though!

Also as a little aside - I’ve saved this pic for my Xmas day ‘grazing’ idea. So festive!

A selection of dips. Cheese and chive for me, please. And a nice Stilton.

Sausages!

purplecorkheart · 24/11/2021 19:32

I am not a cheese fan (unless cooked) so I am your nightmare guest. I would like to see some Chorizo slice/parma ham or similar. Some french bread style crackers (got fab ones in Lidl today). Hummus looks good but maybe something like pesto also. Cubed melons (I get from Lidl as well). Peanuts/almonds or my favourite toasted pine nuts. Olives. I agree though about individual plates and tongs etc.

5zeds · 24/11/2021 19:34

I too would rather people used tongs. I’d like fruit, apricots, mango, peaches, figs.

Ohshittt · 24/11/2021 19:36

I second the dips, perhaps some hummus? 🤔

DentalWorries · 24/11/2021 19:38

Following for ideas! I have so many photos of these saved on Pinterest for our Christmas drinks party.
You might be a more high brow cheese eater than I am but Sainsbury’s do the most insane chilli cheddar. I’m also partial to chicken liver pate spread on a Parmesan cracker crisp

camelfleas · 24/11/2021 19:38

Cheese is disgusting so if that was all on one board , I wouldn't touch any of it. Envy (not envy)

PoppyMonth · 24/11/2021 19:43

I would add padron peppers - fried in salty oil.

Figs.

Manchego and a pot of quince jelly.

Lose the Pringles, they are indeed lowering the tone Grin

I always put out lots of serving utensils (cake forks are handy for the meats) and plates - I don't think people would use their fingers as others have implied?

PoppyMonth · 24/11/2021 19:44

Also - I'd serve more than you think you need. In my experience, guests just scoff the lot.

dreamingbohemian · 24/11/2021 19:47

Rather than one big grazing board (which I thought MN decided were Very Bad) I would at least separate things out a bit, so a big cheese board, a charcuterie board, a platter with dips, plates of veg, etc

This at least helps people with allergies and cuts down on cross-contamination.

Asterales · 24/11/2021 19:52

Artichoke hearts.

Wisenotboring · 24/11/2021 19:52

Your spread sounds delicious...maybe some nice wine to go with it.

Grazing boards are a revolting idea at the best of times, certainly not at the moment. As you can see from the responses here, plenty of people don't mind but plenty do. I imagine your guests might be similar. It might be a better gesture of hospitality to serve your delicious food in a more sanitary manner?

hotcrossedbums · 25/11/2021 09:33

Thanks all.

Re the hygiene situation, I hear you, luckily it's only close family nut utensils will be used anyway.

I love vine leaves on a grazing board

ScribblingPixie · 25/11/2021 09:52

I like a separate Scandi fishy area - prawns, herring, gravadlax, bit of dill, beetroot, cucumber, capers, yogurty-dressing. Yours sounds amazing though. I am totally doing this for Christmas afternoon now.

Georgyporky · 25/11/2021 12:28

Butter.
